Hengrave Hall, 18 to 20-July-2003
The Lute Society held its third Country-House weekend at Hengrave Hall, Suffolk on July 18-20.Hengrave Hall is a spacious Tudor mansion set in its own grounds of 45 acres, in the heart of the Suffolk countryside. In Elizabethan times it rang with the sound of the madrigals of John Wilbye, who was the music master there; from suppertime on Friday July 18 to teatime on Sunday July 20, the Lute Society once again filled Hengrave with music. Chris Wilson, Jacob Heringman and Linda Sayce were there to teach, lead group playing and play informally to 34 enthusiastic participants.
